2Q10 CHAPTER DIRECTORS' MEETING

Theme:  Back to the Basics
Date:     Saturday, April 24th, 2010
Time:     9:00 am - 11:00 am
Place:    Church of the Epiphany, 421 Custer Rd., Richardson, TX 75080

This will be the second of four gatherings throughout 2010 to come together as Chapter Leaders and discuss how we can disciple men and youth, to help bring them into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ, through the ministry of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew. This 2nd Quarterly Meeting will focus on the Brotherhood basic disciplines of Prayer, Study & Service. We will hear from three different speakers and chapters on how these disciplines are taught and lived out in their lives. Presentations on the elements of Prayer, Study and Service will be provided by representatives from several chapters within the Diocese.

Prayer - Don Waddington

Don is a member of the St. Michael's and All Angels Chapter in Dallas. He retired in 1991 from a long career in newspaper advertising. After retirement he moved from New York back to Dallas, his hometown. Don is married with three grown children and eight grandchildren. He has been an active communicant of Saint Michael and All Angels for almost twenty years. Prior to that he and his wife had been very active at the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta for many years, including a term as Junior Warden.

Study - Malcolm Scott

Malcolm Scott is a member of the St. John's Chapter and is currently leading the men in a study of Matthew using the Navigators' LifeChange study guide, as well as a few study Bibles for historical and theological background. He is a seminary graduate as well as a Christian college graduate. His basic approach to Bible study is an historical / theological approach, studying each book of the Bible as its own literary work which can be unfolded by means of detailed study of its words, sentences, paragraphs and sections, and with a view to its practical significance for Christians in the modern world. He uses this approach to Bible study because it provides the best and most accurate way of coming to the ancient documents of the Christian faith, which were written for God's people in times and places quite different from those of today, and bringing out their meaning for God's people in their own different contexts in today's diverse, complex world.

Service - Larry Browndyke, a member of the St. Luke's Chapter in Dallas.

Larry Browndyke has been a member of St. Luke's Church for 44 years, serving 3 terms as vestry member. He is currently the Acolyte Master, Master of Ceremonies, Chalice Bearer and a founding member of Brotherhood Chapter, and serves as the Director. Larry has a BBA from SMU where he also played 4 years of varsity baseball. He spent 4 years as a Naval Supply Officer aboard a ship, and for the past 20 years leasing real estate, for a total of 40 years in sales and marketing.

A "heavy" continental breakfast will be provided and the dress is casual.

Please make plans to attend and mark the date on your calendar.
